Google API Services Disclosure

Last updated · October 20, 2026

This page describes how InsightStack uses Google APIs and confirms compliance with the Google APIs Terms of Service and the Google API Services User Data Policy.

Application purpose

InsightStack (https://www.insightstack.fyi) is a business software platform for consumer and user research. Organizations use InsightStack to design studies, recruit participants, conduct asynchronous video and voice interviews, analyze transcripts and media, and search a private workspace knowledge base. InsightStack is not an image-generation app, adult content service, or deepfake tool.

How we use Google APIs

  • Google Sign-In (optional) — to authenticate researchers who choose Google as their login method, using standard OpenID profile and email scopes.
  • Google Docs / Drive links (optional) — researchers may paste a publicly shared Google Docs, Sheets, or Drive file link into the Knowledge Layer. We fetch the export URL server-side only when the file is shared as “Anyone with the link can view.” We do not request Google Drive OAuth scopes or connect to a user's private Drive account.

We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not sell Google user data. Limited Use requirements are described in our Privacy Policy.

Limited Use compliance

The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

InsightStack does not use Google user data to create, train, or improve generalized or foundational machine learning or artificial intelligence models. We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for their model training.

AI processing of Google-derived content

When a workspace imports a shared Drive link into the Knowledge Layer, exported document text may be processed by third-party inference services solely to provide product features for that workspace—for example, generating text embeddings for search and answering researcher questions with citations. Processing is limited to delivering the requested feature; we do not use Google-derived content to train InsightStack models (we do not operate our own foundational LLMs).

Our primary AI gateway is OpenRouter (paid API), which routes requests to upstream model providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic under their API terms. Production deployments can enable OpenRouter Zero Data Retention routing and disable prompt logging and training-eligible providers in OpenRouter account settings. Interview speech features use Deepgram and optionally Cartesia; avatar video rendering may use HeyGen. Those services process interview audio and study scripts, not Google Drive file exports from the Knowledge Layer.

InsightStack does not run self-hosted or offline large language models for Google Workspace data; all Knowledge Layer AI inference described above is performed via API to the providers listed.

AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII)

InsightStack does not use Google APIs to create, generate, or distribute AI-generated non-consensual intimate imagery (NCII), nor for any similar synthetic intimate or exploitative content. Google-related Knowledge Layer imports are limited to business documents the researcher explicitly shares via link (for example research briefs and discussion guides). Interview video and analysis features do not use Google APIs to generate imagery.
